Rock Scaling

Rock scaling is used to remove loose surface material presenting a rock fall hazard, usually with prybars and picks. Where large sections of rock or large boulders require controlled removal, a variety of techniques can be utilised including winching, bagging of material and breaking up in situ using power tools.

Temporary catch fences are often used in the scaling and rock removal process. Scaling can be a stand-alone solution but is often undertaken as the initial process in a stabilisation project.

Experienced Rock Solutions crews working to strict safe working practices are available at short notice for emergency scaling works where immediate action making safe of areas is necessary.
